For my mam
In March 2024, my mam, Tracey, was diagnosed with Stage 3, Grade 3 breast cancer - Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. What started with a simple discovery of a lump quickly turned into an overwhelming reality: a fast growing tumor measuring over 9cm. Since May 2024, she has been courageously battling through a tough treatment journey with intensive chemotherapy, a month of radiotherapy, and a mastectomy where the surgeons removed more than 30 lymph nodes.
The road to recovery has been long, challenging, and uncertain, but through it all, Tracey has shown immense strength, positivity and resilience. The treatments have been physically demanding, but my mam has faced each challenge with remarkable determination.
I’m raising funds through the Relay for Life for the Irish Cancer Society to honor my mam and all those who are affected by cancer. The Irish Cancer Society has played a huge part in this journey for my mam, myself and those close to us. The money we raise goes toward helping those who are embarking on their journey by providing support services, night nurses and equipment, transport to and from treatment appointments as well as working toward a future where fewer people have to face the devastation of cancer.
Your donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference in the lives of countless families who are on this difficult path. Thank you for helping us fight for a world without cancer.
We’re fundraising for a great cause
Funds raised from this event will support vital support services for people living with cancer. These much needed funds will help the Irish Cancer Society continue to provide Night Nurses, Volunteer Drivers, a freephone Support line, counselling sessions, fund life changing research & much more.
Your help today, will help to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families, together we can ensure that no-one has to go through their cancer journey alone.
